Who Is Eian Burton?
Eian Burton is the firstborn child of LeVar Burton, one of America’s most recognizable television personalities.
His father became famous in 1977 after portraying the young Kunta Kinte in the television miniseries Roots.
LeVar later played Geordi La Forge in Star Trek: The Next Generation and hosted Reading Rainbow for more than two decades.
These roles made him familiar to millions of viewers.
Eian, however, followed a different professional direction.
Rather than developing a career in film or television, he became connected to education.
Public employment records identify an Eian W. Burton as a special education paraeducator in California during the early 2010s.
LeVar also confirmed in a 2023 interview that his son belonged to the family’s long tradition of working in education.
This makes Eian’s story interesting for a reason that extends beyond celebrity family connections.
His professional path reflects a different way of helping young people develop their abilities.
Eian Burton’s Early Life and Childhood
Eian Burton was born on June 23, 1980.
His birth date was documented in contemporary reporting about his father’s paternity case.
At that time, LeVar Burton was already a recognizable actor.
His breakthrough role in Roots had appeared three years earlier.
However, LeVar did not initially know that Eian had been born.
The circumstances became public in 1983.
How Did LeVar Burton Discover He Had a Son?
In June 1983, LeVar filed a legal petition seeking recognition as the father of a young boy named Eian.
The child was nearly three years old.
According to contemporary news reporting, LeVar had learned about Eian only recently.
Blood tests had indicated that he was the father.
LeVar then sought legal recognition of paternity and visitation rights.
He also stated that he was willing to provide financial support.
The case attracted media attention because LeVar was already known for his acting work.
The Importance of the Paternity Case
The legal proceedings were an important event in Eian’s early childhood.
They formally established a family relationship that had not been acknowledged at the time of his birth.
The situation also raised questions about parental responsibilities and visitation arrangements.
However, it is important to remember that Eian was a small child during these events.
He was not responsible for the circumstances surrounding his parents’ relationship.
The public attention arose because of his father’s celebrity status.
Who Is Eian Burton’s Mother?
Eian’s mother was identified in 1984 reporting as Chimara P. Smith.
A separate contemporary report used the name Pamela Smith.
These accounts appear to refer to Eian’s mother, although the difference in names is not fully explained in the available records.
Several modern biography websites identify her as Chimara P. Smith.
However, little reliable information is available about her professional background or later personal life.
Did Eian’s Parents Ever Marry?
There is no established public record showing that LeVar Burton and Eian’s mother were married.
Their relationship was discussed publicly during the paternity proceedings.
The available reporting describes the circumstances of Eian’s birth and the subsequent legal dispute.
However, it does not establish that his parents had a conventional long-term marriage.
LeVar later married makeup artist Stephanie Cozart.
That marriage brought another child into the Burton family.
Eian Burton’s Childhood Custody Dispute
Another difficult event occurred during Eian’s early childhood.
In June 1984, news reports described a disagreement between his parents concerning custody and visitation.
Eian’s mother alleged that LeVar had not returned him following a planned visit.
LeVar’s representative disputed that account.
According to the representative, Eian’s mother had asked LeVar to care for the child for a longer period.
The reports also stated that Eian was staying safely with his paternal grandmother in Sacramento, California.
What Actually Happened?
The available reporting presented conflicting explanations.
Because of those differences, it would be inaccurate to treat every allegation as an established fact.
What can be confirmed is that a custody disagreement became public.
The incident involved questions about where Eian should stay and how the parents would manage their responsibilities.
The final private arrangements are not described in enough detail to reconstruct his entire childhood.
As Eian grew older, he largely disappeared from entertainment headlines.
Who Is LeVar Burton?
LeVar Burton is an American actor, director, author, and television host.
He was born on February 16, 1957, in Landstuhl, West Germany, where his father was stationed with the United States military.

His mother, Erma Jean Christian, worked as an educator.

LeVar Burton in Roots
LeVar achieved national recognition through Roots.
The miniseries premiered in 1977.

LeVar portrayed Kunta Kinte as a young man.
His performance received widespread attention.
The program became a major television event and helped launch his career.
LeVar Burton in Star Trek
LeVar later joined Star Trek: The Next Generation.
The series premiered in 1987.
He played Geordi La Forge, a skilled engineer serving aboard the USS Enterprise.
The character became recognizable for his distinctive visor and technical expertise.
LeVar continued appearing in the franchise through later films and television productions.
His performance made him an important figure within the Star Trek community.
LeVar Burton and Reading Rainbow
Another major part of LeVar’s career was Reading Rainbow.
The children’s television program began in 1983.
It encouraged young viewers to discover books and develop a love of reading.
LeVar hosted the show for more than two decades.
His presentations introduced children to stories, authors, and different places.
The program became closely connected to children’s literacy in the United States.
This educational work is particularly relevant to Eian’s own professional background.
Eian Burton’s Education
Eian’s formal educational history has not been fully documented.
Some celebrity biography websites claim that he attended Foothill College in California.
However, there is insufficient reliable confirmation of his enrollment, graduation, or academic qualifications.
His professional work is better documented than his university history.
Public employment records identify him in special education support roles.
This establishes his involvement in schools, but it does not automatically prove that he holds a particular teaching degree or professional license.
Did Eian Burton Attend College?
His exact college history remains unverified.
Some websites provide institution names without identifying original records.
For this reason, specific claims about his degrees should be treated cautiously.
A person’s educational qualifications should not be inferred solely from a job title.
The available information supports his connection to education without establishing every detail of his academic background.
Eian Burton’s Career in Special Education
One of the most interesting parts of Eian Burton’s biography is his work in education.
Public California payroll records identify Eian W. Burton as a paraeducator in special education with the Santa Clara County Office of Education.
The records cover 2012, 2013, and 2014.
This is stronger evidence than the unsupported career descriptions found on some celebrity websites.
What Is a Special Education Paraeducator?
A special education paraeducator helps teachers support students who need additional assistance.
Some students may require help understanding classroom instructions.
Others may need support with communication, physical activities, behavior, or learning routines.
Paraeducators work alongside teachers and other education professionals.
Their responsibilities may include helping individual students, supporting small groups, and preparing classroom materials.
The goal is to help students participate meaningfully in education.
Eian’s Work in California
Eian’s documented employment connects him to Santa Clara County, California.
The Santa Clara County Office of Education supports schools and educational programs in the region.
Its services include programs for students with disabilities and other specialized learning needs.
The historical employment records identify Eian’s role as a special education paraeducator.

Several online biographies describe him as a special education teacher or basketball coach.
Those claims may reflect later activities, but the precise current positions are not independently confirmed.
Is Eian Burton a Special Education Teacher?
Many biographies describe Eian as a special education teacher.
However, there is an important difference between a teacher and a paraeducator.
A teacher usually holds responsibility for classroom instruction and educational planning.
A paraeducator works under the direction of teachers or other qualified school professionals.
Both positions contribute to student learning.
The available employment records specifically identify Eian as a paraeducator.
Therefore, that is the most clearly documented job title.
His father has also publicly connected him with education.
Together, these details establish an educational career without requiring unsupported claims about his present qualifications.

This statement is particularly meaningful for understanding Eian’s life.
His father became famous for television, but much of his career also involved learning and literacy.
His grandmother worked in education.
Other members of the family followed similar paths.
Eian continued that tradition through work supporting students.
Two Different Ways of Helping Children Learn
LeVar reached millions of children through Reading Rainbow.
His program encouraged reading and curiosity.
Eian pursued work connected to classrooms and student support.
These are different professional environments, but both are related to education.
One operates through television and storytelling.
The other involves practical support within schools.
This connection makes Eian’s professional choices especially interesting.
Did Eian Burton Become an Actor?
There is no widely established film or television career associated with Eian Burton.
He has not become a regular actor in major Hollywood productions.
He is also not known for appearing in Star Trek alongside his father.
Unlike his younger half-sister Mica, Eian has maintained a much smaller public entertainment profile.
His documented professional background points toward education.
Why Didn’t Eian Follow His Father’s Career?
Eian has not given a widely documented interview explaining his career choices.
It would therefore be speculative to claim that he avoided acting for any particular personal reason.
People from famous families often develop interests outside the industries associated with their parents.
In Eian’s case, the available records show that he pursued education-related work.
That is an established professional direction, even though the private motivations behind it remain unknown.
Eian Burton’s Half-Sister, Mica Burton
Eian has a younger half-sister named Mica Burton.
Mica was born on July 8, 1994.
Her mother is Stephanie Cozart Burton.

Mica Burton in Star Trek: Picard
Mica appeared in Star Trek: Picard.
She portrayed Alandra La Forge, the daughter of Geordi La Forge.

This created an interesting connection between their real-life relationship and the fictional family depicted on screen.
Mica’s career brought her into the same entertainment universe that helped make her father famous.
Eian, meanwhile, remained outside that public acting world.
Who Is Stephanie Cozart Burton?
Stephanie Cozart Burton is LeVar Burton’s wife and Mica Burton’s mother.
She works as a makeup artist in the entertainment industry.
Her professional career includes film and television productions.
LeVar and Stephanie married in 1992.
Their daughter Mica was born two years later.
Stephanie is Eian’s stepmother through his father’s marriage.
However, the exact details of Eian’s personal relationship with Stephanie have not been widely documented.
Eian Burton’s Relationship With LeVar Burton
Eian’s relationship with his father has attracted curiosity because of the legal proceedings during his early childhood.
The paternity case became public in 1983.
A custody dispute followed in 1984.
However, these events do not provide a complete picture of their relationship across the following four decades.
LeVar has publicly acknowledged Eian as his son.
He also referred to him during his 2023 interview about the family’s educational background.
Are Eian and LeVar Close Today?
There is limited reliable information describing their current relationship.
LeVar’s public acknowledgment establishes their family connection.
However, it does not reveal how often they meet, speak, or spend time together.
Some celebrity websites describe a particularly close relationship.
Others focus heavily on the difficulties of the early custody dispute.
Neither approach should be treated as a complete account without direct statements from the family.
The most accurate conclusion is that Eian is publicly acknowledged as LeVar’s son, while the details of their private relationship remain personal.
Does Eian Burton Have a Wife?
Eian Burton’s current marital status has not been reliably established.
Some online biographies claim that he is married.
Others describe him as unmarried or living independently.
However, these claims generally lack direct interviews or trustworthy original records.
Eian has maintained a private personal life.
It would therefore be inaccurate to assign him a spouse without reliable confirmation.
Does Eian Burton Have Children?
Several online articles claim that Eian has a daughter.
Some even provide a name.
However, this information is not consistently supported by established reporting.
There is no sufficiently reliable public confirmation of his children’s identities or family circumstances.
For that reason, his parental status should be described as unverified.
His private family information should not be confused with the well-documented fact that he is LeVar Burton’s son.
Eian Burton’s Net Worth in 2026
Many people search for Eian Burton’s net worth.
However, his current finances are not publicly established.
His historical employment in education is documented.
But previous payroll information cannot reveal his present savings, investments, or total personal assets.
Some celebrity biography websites publish net worth estimates ranging from modest amounts to hundreds of thousands of dollars.
These figures do not have enough supporting evidence.
His father’s entertainment earnings also cannot automatically be assigned to Eian.
Eian Burton’s exact net worth remains unknown as of 2026.
How Old Is Eian Burton in 2026?
Eian was born on June 23, 1980.
He turned 46 years old on June 23, 2026.
